WHERE ARE WE LOCATED ?

The official site of HELP Congo is located in Pointe Noire in Republic of CONGO. The public awareness centre is also located in Pointe Noire.

The Conkouati Sanctuary, reached in fours hours in an all terrain vehicle, is the site where orphaned chimpanzees live.
It is situated next to the pilot plantation where eucalyptus, acacias and palm trees grow and represents HELP Congo´s main field site.  There is only one road into the site.

The bivouac is a site siutated in the middle of the forest and it is where young chimpanzees learn to recognize and learn about their surrounding biotope.  A human presence is provided in order to look out for the animals and provide them a supplementary diet.

The "Triangle" is the site where chimpanzees are reintroduced back into the wild and is a forested zone of approximately 21 km².  A camp divided into two different sections is used by the teams in charge of following up on the released chimpanzees.  The camp is only accessible by boat.

Chimps are tracked on a daily basis during their excursions in order to learn more about their social behaviour, diet, encounters with other animals and their interaction with groups of wild chimpanzees.
